Betting on Leicester City

Leicester City stretched their unbeaten run in the Premier League to two games with a gritty 2-2 draw with Southampton on Saturday. It was a fantastic result for the Foxes who have not tasted defeat in their last eight away games. They have only once enjoyed a longer run in the top flight, going nine matches without a road loss in 1973.

[sc:Soccer240banner ]Providing the impetus for Leicester City’s sizzling start is the red-hot Jamie Vardy. He leads the Premier League in scoring this season with a whopping nine goals. He was at it again against Southampton, scoring twice in the final 24 minutes to help the Foxes overturn a two-goal deficit. With that double, Vardy became just the fourth Englishman this century to score in six consecutive Premier League matches.

He will be looking to continue that excellent form against a Crystal Palace backline that has only conceded 10 goals this season, fifth-best in the Premier League. That impressive defensive record, however, won’t faze the Foxes who have managed to score in every league match this season.

Betting on Crystal Palace

Yohan Cabaye

Crystal Palace had their three-match unbeaten run snapped on Saturday with a gut-wrenching 3-1 defeat to West Ham at Selhurst Park. It was a disappointing result for manager Alan Pardew and the rest of the Eagles who dropped down to sixth in the league table with 15 points to their name.

They will look to get their season back on track when they face Leicester City on the road this coming Saturday. It certainly won’t be easy as the Foxes are currently experiencing a rich vein of form. Leicester City have lost just once in nine league games this season. That being said, the Eagles will still fancy their chances this coming weekend as they have fared extremely well on the road of late. Crystal Palace have won nine of their last 12 away fixtures. That includes their 1-0 victory over Leicester City at King Power last season.

If they are to continue that winning run this coming weekend, they will have to do it without star striker Dwight Gayle. He will serve a one-match suspension after getting sent off against West Ham last Saturday. With forwards Connor Wickham and Marouane Chamakh still out injured, the onus is on Yohann Cabaye to carry the scoring load for Crystal Palace.

The Frenchman is the Eagles’ leading scorer with four goals to his name this season. Cabaye will be licking his chops at the prospect of facing a Leicester City defense that has conceded a league-worst 10 goals in their four home matches this year.

Writer’s Prediction

Leicester City (+106) edge past Crystal Palace 3-2, in a high-scoring thriller.
