Fairleigh Dickinson Knights – March Madness Team Predictions, Odds and Preview 2016

No. 16 East – Fairleigh Dickinson Knights (Overall: 18-14, Conf: 11-7)

Team Strengths:

The Knights know how to get high-percentage shots. For one, they have a high ratio of shots taken near the basket with 45.3 percent of their shots attempted at the rim. That’s 13th overall in the nation per Hoop-Math. They don’t have much of an option at the post because of lack of size, so the Knights often rely on their individual skills to attack the basket. They’re also a decent outside sniping team with 7.3 threes made per game on a respectable 36.5% clip.

Team Weaknesses:

As implied earlier, the Knights are a small team. They only have one player standing taller than 6-9 and that’s freshman Malik Miller, who plays 9.1 minutes per game. The rest are no taller than 6-7. That’s going to be a big problem for Fairleigh Dickinson right in its very first game in the tournament as the Knights are matched up against an FGCU team that features five players standings at least 6-8 tall. Often outsized, the Knights are only able to rank an abysmal 309th in the nation in defense with 78.5 points allowed per game.

Team Stats:

Category Stat NCAA Rank
Points Per Game 76.8 70
Rebounds Per Game 33.1 294
Blocks Per Game 2.5 276
3-Point Percentage 36.5% 87
Free Throw Percentage 69.9% 171

Starting Lineup:

Position Name PPG
F Mike Holloway 9.6
F Earl Potts Jr. 14.7
G Marques Townes 11.4
G Stephan Jiggetts 11.2
G Darian Anderson 15.4

Writer’s Prediction:

The Knights get sent out of the tournament by FGCU.
