SLEEPERS
Clint Bowyer (+4000)
After a long stretch in which he showed barely detectable signs of life, Bowyer appears to be back in business, as he rose from a slump when he finished runner-up in last week’s Food City presents the Supermarket Heroes 500 race at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Prior to that, Bowyer finished 16th a the Alsco Uniforms 500 in Charlotte and a distant 39th at the Coca Cola 600, also in Charlotte. If Bowyer is feeling like he powers have returned, then he could be zoning in on a great performance this coming weekend at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, where he’s had a pair of top 5s in his last two starts there.
Aric Almirola (+7500)
Almirola is still inside the playoff picture despite finishing 20th at the Coca Cola 600 and 29th at the Alsco Uniforms 500, largely thanks to three top 10s so far this season. Even with those strong performances, Almirola is someone who’s not exciting a lot of people despite being a valuable sleeper. Almirola has two top 10s and six top 20s in nine career starts at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. In his last race there, he finished eighth at the 2019 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500.
Ryan Newman (+10,000)
Newman is still searching for his first win of the season, and when he wins one, it would very likely be an emotional one, considering what he went through following his involvement in a scary crash back in February at the 2020 Daytona 500. Newman wasn’t too shabby in his return, with four top 17s in five races since May. The last time he raced at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, Newman finished 13th at the 2019 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. With +10,000 odds to win in Atlanta he may deliver a serious pay day for those who wager accordingly.
