Betting on the Golden State Warriors (40-11)
The Warriors appeared to have let their guard down last Tuesday, as they absorbed a 129-99 upset loss in Utah. If anything, that loss should light a fire underneath the defending champions, who are also out for revenge against the Kings. Golden State lost to Sacramento at home back in Nov. 27, 110-106. However, it should be noted that both Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant sat out in that game due to injuries, so now that they are healthy, the Warriors will be a vastly stronger team than the one Sacramento previously shared the court with. Curry leads the Warriors with 27.7 points per game, while Durant is not too shabby either with his 25.6 points per game. Up against Sacramento’s mediocre defense, Durant and the Warriors should be hissing at the prospect of drowning the Kings with their offense. The Warriors pace the entire NBA with 115.6 points per game. Golden State is also 7-1 SU and 4-4 ATS in its last eight trips to Sacramento going back to 2013.
Betting on the Sacramento Kings (15-34)
Sacramento is coming off a nice 113-98 road win over New Orleans on Tuesday, which should serve as a momentum builder for them heading into a tough matchup with the Warriors. Zach Randolph turned back the hands of time with a vintage 26 points, 12 rebounds effort versus the Pelicans, while Kosta Koufus fired 17 points and plucked down 17 rebounds in a solid performance in place of Willie Cauley-Stein. Cauley-Stein is day-to-day with a knee injury, so Koufus could be in line for another start. That said, not even a complete cast of Kings would be very unlikely to take down Golden State. Sacramento is last in the league with just 98.2 points per game, so missing Cauley-Stein and his 12.4 points per game game would be a significant hit on the Kings. The Kings could also be without Skal Labissiere, who is nursing a shoulder injury. If anything, Sacramento is 3-1 ATS in its last four home games against the Warriors.
Writer’s Prediction:
Golden State wins, 118-98.
