The Gonzaga Bulldogs (+550 to win the national title) are very close to achieving one of their goals this season, which is to finish the conference play with an immaculate record. If they are to accomplish that, they will have to beat the Saint Mary’s Gaels on the road in their last WCC game of the campaign. Will Gonzaga go 16-0 SU in WCC? Or will Saint Mary’s (+50,000) spoil the Bulldogs’ party?

Betting on the Gonzaga Bulldogs (28-2 Overall / 15-0 Conference)
At this point, everyone in the WCC are deers in the headlights of No. 1 ranked Gonzaga. The Bulldogs extended their winning streak to 18 games over the weekend by defeating the BYU Cougars with extreme ease at home, 102-68, then added another on Thursday in Stockton CA against UoP. The Bulldogs don’t just beat their conference opponents – they annihilate them. In fact, Gonzaga owns the best average scoring margin in the nation with a plus-25.4 thanks in large part to their dominance in the WCC. Included in their current unbeaten run is Gonzaga’s 94-46 thumping of the Gaels in Spokane back in Feb. 9 in a game in which the Bulldogs shot 58.3 percent from the field while they held Saint Mary’s to only 25.9 percent shooting from the floor. Gonzaga is averaging 90.7 points per game this season – the best nationally – and is allowing just 65.2 points per contest.
Gonzaga is 17-9 against the spread (ATS) in games after a win this season.
Betting on the St Mary’s Gaels (19-10 Overall / 10-4 Conference)
The Gaels went on a four-game winning streak going into their Thursday night game against the Portland Pilots. But taking down Gonzaga, the top ranked team in the NCAA, can be considered as some sort of a pipe dream. That is a fair thing to say based on how dominant the Bulldogs are this season, though, it doesn’t mean the Gaels have zero odds of winning – or at least covering the spread – in the rematch with Gonzaga. If the Gaels could exert more effort on defense and do a better job on the glass, they should be able to stick closer to Gonzaga than in the first meeting between the two teams. In that game, the Gaels got out-rebounded 42-31, and got pounded inside the paint, as the Bulldogs outscored Saint Mary’s in the shaded area, 52-20. The Gaels are allowing 65.4 points per game this season, but has surrendered just 47.7 points to their last three opponents.
Saint Mary’s is 2-2 ATS in its last four games against Gonzaga.
Writer’s Prediction
Gonzaga wins, 80-72.
