Lamar Jackson is so ahead of everyone else, two ugly losses didn’t affect his place in the Heisman race. Heck, the committee has probably ordered the company who manufacture the trophy to start carving up the QB’s name on it.
That being said, don’t forget that others still have a chance, regardless how miniscule it is. Also, crazier things have happened, just look at America’s recent presidential elections. Yep, we went there.

QB – Lamar Jackson, Louisville (-5,000)
The sophomore has simply been too good this season. Through 13 weeks, he has produced 4,928 total yards, along with 51 total touchdowns (30 passing and 21 rushing). You can’t even say those are video game-like numbers, because even at that it’s still a bit insane.
With those stats, you might think that he literally has five moving walls as his linemen, but no. He’s actually in a stretch where his protectors are playing quite poorly, as they have allowed 19 sacks in the last three games (11 to the Houston Cougars). The kid is just blessed with a great amount of skill.
The others (+1,200)
There’s zero doubt that all of these guys are having a special season, but it is hard to imagine that they will edge Jackson in the voting.
DB – Jabrill Peppers, Michigan
Peppers is the most versatile player we have seen in a while. Although officially listed as a defensive back, he has played a total of 10 positions, which he all played well in, among them are safety, linebacker, running back, receiver, and Wildcat quarterback.
QB – Jake Browning, Washington
Browning has followed up on his promising freshman year. He’s arguably one of college football’s best pocket QBs this year, averaging 260.5 passing YPG, with 40 TDs (third-most in the nation) and only seven picks. His Huskies are 11-1 and have climbed up to fourth place in the polls.
QB – Deshaun Watson, Clemson
Although not exactly better than the two, Watson is a combination of Jackson and Browning, as he has mobility and good pocket presence. He’s averaging 302.1 passing YPG and has a 34-14 TD-INT ratio (67.5-percent completion rate), along with 36.5 rushing YPG. Through his leadership, Clemson is 11-1 and ranked third in the polls.
RB – Donnel Pumphrey, San Diego State
With the way he has carried the Aztecs, the word “workhorse” on the dictionary should probably have a picture of Pumphrey. The senior has powered his way for 1,908 rushing yards this season (159 per game, 6.3 yards per carry), along with 15 TDs. It doesn’t even end there. He’s probably the only back to lead his team in catches (26 receptions for 205 yards).
