Betting on the Houston Astros (23-11)
If Dallas Keuchel continues to pitch as well as he has thus far this year, there might be a Cy Young Award waiting for him. Keuchel, who is pitching tonight against the Yankees, carries impressive numbers of a 5-0 record with a 1.88 ERA and a .085 WHIP.
Having said all of that, not all of Keuchel’s starts this season have been rosy. In his most recent stint on the mound, he was clobbered for five earned runs on seven hits by the Angels, though the Astros’ offense saved him from picking up an L in a 7-6 road victory on May 5.
Keuchel will look to bounce back at the Yankee Stadium, where is 2-1 with a 2.57 ERA across three starts.
He’ll be backed by a Houston offense that boasts of four qualified hitters that are batting at least .333 on the road this season. Jose Altuve paces that group with a .419 batting average away from home. He is also 3-for-11 in his career against Yankees starter, Michael Pineda.
Betting on the New York Yankees (21-10)
The Yankees deserve to be referred to as the Bronx Bombers again.
Propelled by the smoldering bat of rookie Aaron Judge, the Yankees are currently among the batting leaders in the majors. New York is slashing .273/.357/.463—all are top four in the big leagues. Moreover, the Yankees have 52 homers, the most in the American League.
Judge accounts for 13 of those blasts. He’s been a terror at the plate, batting .317 with 28 RBI’s to date. Although the Yankees lost 5-3 in Cincinnati the last time out, it was only the team’s first in seven games. During that stretch, the Yankees averaged 7.3 runs per contest.
Keuchel is going to be a big challenge for the Yankees so Michael Pineda has to do his part on the hill. Pineda has been pitching relatively well this season. He is 3-1 with a 3.12 ERA. He has allowed two runs or fewer in four of his last five starts. The Yankees are 3-0 in Pineda’s last three home starts.
Writer’s Prediction
