Betting on the Houston Rockets (-3)

Houston saw its three-game winning streak snapped in Wednesday’s 115-102 home loss to the Raptors, a game in which James Harden continued to fill up the stat sheet with 29 points, 15 assists and a season-high 12 turnovers.

It was pretty clear that the Rockets shot themselves on the foot with their carelessness, issuing a total of 28 TOs that turned into 33 points for the opposing side. They obviously need to keep this problem under a minimum in tonight’s road matchup with the Kings, whom Houston has defeated in eight of the previous nine meetings (7-2 ATS).

Harden’s in line for another huge game here, considering the Sacramento defense has given away an average of 107.0 points in its last three games, including 115 points in a loss to the visiting Clippers exactly a week ago.

Betting on the Sacramento Kings (+3)

The Kings have won back-to-back contests (2-0 ATS), with the latest against the Thunder on Wednesday. In that game, both the offense and defense were clearly present, as Sacramento had three starters score in double-figures and forced Russell Westbrook to shoot below 40 percent from the field despite sending him to the line several times.

That’s the kind of defense Sacramento needs to show against the fourth-leading scorer of the NBA James Harden, who averages 5.8 turnovers per contest, also a league-high. Keeping him in check should greatly affect Houston’s offense, which heavily relies on Harden’s aggression, penetrations and kick-out passes.

On the other end of the floor, it’s DeMarcus Cousins who the Kings look to most of the time. Their franchise center’s been making a living under the basket, and sometimes from beyond the arc, averaging 29.7 points and 13.2 rebounds while shooting 44.4 percent from three in the last four games.

Writer’s Prediction

Houston (-3) prevails, as James Harden puts on another show.
