Indianapolis Colts vs Jacksonville Jaguars Predictions, Picks, Odds and Betting Preview – NFL Week 13 2017

The Jacksonville Jaguars are looking to get back in the win column in Week 13 against the Indianapolis Colts, as their four game winning streak was snapped last week, courtesy of a late field goal from the Arizona Cardinals. Jacksonville opened strong as an 8.5-point favorites and was bet up to 9.5 points at our sportsbook. On the road, the Colts are 1-4 straight up and 2-3 against the spread this season, while the Jaguars are 3-2 SU and 2-3 ATS when playing in the comforts of home.

The Colts frustrated many last Sunday. They were up on the Titans early but couldn’t hold on and in the even were not even able to cover the number at home. It was a rare short number last week and an indicator of how this team is still competing. Jacoby Brissett is no threat to Luck but I think he has proven himself to be a viable NFL quarterback.

There was some concerns that he wouldn’t be ready to go but he played. He is classically serviceable. The same could be said or RB Frank Gore, who is creeping up the all time rushing list. The problem is that he needs a lot of help and can’t take the ball to the house often. T.Y. Hilton is the biggest playmaker for the Colts but to often they can’t get him the ball. He has only had two catches in each of the last couple of weeks.

I didn’t know it was the case until right now but no team give up more points than the Colts. Though I am not surprised by that fact. There are just no stars in this group. Perhaps there is something to build around in rookie safety Malik Hooker. He has three interceptions on the season. This group might be getting better as the season progresses too. Even though they are last in the league giving up 28ppg they have not given up that many in a single game since mid October.

Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (7-4)

Point Spread: (-9.5)

The Jags might make the playoffs but they really blew an opportunity on the road against the Cardinals. Those guys had nothing to play for but they staked them a lead and lost it late on a long field goal. Jacksonville has the best rushing game in the NFL but they could not get it going against Arizona. Leonard Fournette returned to the lineup a few games back but he has not been as effective as he was early in the season.

Blake Bortles is not lighting it up. He has just been better this season about not making mistakes. Sometimes he will have to win the game though. If this team is going to get better they need to get their hands on an elite receiver. Someone you can throw the ball too even when they are covered and will still make a play.

The defense has great numbers but was not very sharp against Arizona. They made Blaine Gabbert look like he might be a playable NFL quarterback when we all know that isn’t the case. Jacksonville should be able to make things difficult for Brissett and use their defense and running game against a bad team. But that is what we thought last week too.

Writer’s Prediction

Jacksonville has turned the corner but the result last week shows you have to have some caution with this group. This is a big number for the Jaguars, especially off that loss but I think they can rally heading back home. The Colts are a perfect get well kind of team. They are not the Browns but they do not have any particular strengths. Pick: Jacksonville (+9.5)
