Betting on the Kansas State Wildcats (22-10)
Kansas State is more than likely to hear its name called on Selection Sunday, thanks to a 66-64 overtime win over TCU on Thursday. But why stop there? The Wildcats could score another huge win this Friday against Kansas, and though they have lost both meetings with the Jayhawks this season, they at least nearly beat Bill Self’s squad on Jan. 13 in Lawrence no less, when Kansas State ended up with a close 73-72 loss. One thing about the Wildcats is that they were able to limit Kansas’ offense way below than its season average of 81.5 points per game in both meetings. (Kansas won 70-56 in the rematch on Jan. 29.) The Wildcats are allowing just 67.5 points per game. On offense, Kansas State features junior forward Dean Wade, who is producing 16.7 points per game. He had 22 and 20 points in the first and second matchup with the Jayhawks, respectively. Kansas State is 6-4 ATS in its last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Kansas Jayhawks (25-7)
Kansas took care of its assignment on Thursday, sending Oklahoma State crashing out of the Big 12 Tournament with an 82-68 win in the quarterfinals. It was a sweet revenge for the Jayhawks days after ending their regular season with a loss in Stillwater. Jayhawks leading scorer Devonte’ Graham exploded for 30 points on an efficient 11-of-15 shooting from the floor. As a team, Kansas shot 56.1 percent, which is a scary sign for Kansas State, as it means the Jayhawks are coming into Friday’s game with momentum on offense. The Jayhawks are one of the best scoring teams in the nation as mentioned earlier. They are also one of the most efficient, as they shoot 49.4 percent from the field and own a 57.7 effective field goal percentage — 10th nationally. Newman averages 17.6 points per game, but Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk can’t be overlooked with 15.3 points per contest. Mykhailiuk had 22 points in the most previous game against Kansas State. Kansas is 4-2 in its last six games overall.
