Betting on Kiki Bertens (-105)

Is it really happening for Bertens? The 26-year-old Dutch is not used to having significant success at Wimbledon, but that’s exactly what she’s doing so far.  Prior to this year’s edition of the tournament, Bertens has not reached further than the third round at Wimbledon. Not only that, by defeating world No. 8 Karolina Pliskova, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1), in the fourth round on Sunday, she’s clinched a ticket to just her quarterfinals appearance in a Grand Slam event. Against Pliskova, Bertens put the ball in 79 percent of the time during her first serves and scored 79 percent off of them. She’s a huge server as evidenced by her seven aces to just two by Pliskova. Bertens also had 35 winners, 13 more than what Pliskova recorded. Bertens also is currently second in the women’s side of the singles bracket with 21 break points won. She is 2-0 all-time versus Goerges, though, both matches happened on a clay surface.

Betting on Julia Goerges (-125)

It’s up to Goerges this time to expose Bertens on the grass. While Bertens is enjoying her in London, she can’t sit on her laurels, as Goerges arguably is the better player on the grass overall. Goerges is 7-2 on the year on grass matches after taking down Donna Vekic, 6-3, 6-2, on Monday in the fourth round. Like Bertens, Goerges is a strong server, as evidenced with the way she overpowered Vekic in their match. The 29-year-old German fired six aces and 30 winners against Vekic while also putting 75 percent of her first serves in and scoring on 75 percent of those successful serves. Goerges also tops the tournament with 47 aces and second in first serve points won in terms of percentage – behind only the great Serena Williams. The deepest round Goerges has reached at Wimbledon is the semifinals round, which she has made once, back in 2016. This is her third quarterfinals match in the event dating back to 2010.

Writer’s Prediction

Goerges stops Bertens Wimbledon ride with a win in three sets.
