The Chargers missed the playoffs last season with just a 7-9 record, which was only good for third in the AFC West. However, Chargers fans must be so happy that the team has seemingly struck gold at the quarterback position with Justin Herbert. The former Oregon Duck star balled out in his rookie season, passing for 4,336 yards and 31 touchdowns with only 10 interceptions. He did all that with a questionable offensive line. Imagine what he could do with better pass protection this time around. Last season, the Chargers were sixth in the NFL with 270.6 passing yards per game. Defensively, the Chargers could show significant improvement with former LA Rams defensive coordinator now running the show on that side of the ball for the Bolts.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is bringing his Fitzmagic to Landover, as he looks to turn Washington’s around. Fitzpatrick has never been considered an elite quarterback, but he’s got a penchant for providing stability under center for teams that need it. And he’s also a better option for the team than what the Football Team used under center a year ago. In Washington, Fitzpatrick should have fun slinging deep balls to Terry McLaurin along with newcomer Curtis Samuel. Plus, the team has a promising pass-catching back in Antonio Gibson, who could break out this season. There’s a quality offense in Washington to give more than enough trouble to the Chargers’ stop unit that might take time adjusting to a new system. Speaking of defense, it’s one of Washington’s strengths. In 2020, the team was fifth in scoring defense with just 21.2 points allowed per game.

Washington Football Team is 5-1 in their last six games when they were the underdogs. The over is 6-1 in their last seven road games.
