Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (+3.5)

Regular Season Record: 1-0

The Chargers made improving their defense a main focus in the offseason. It paid huge dividends in Week 1, as Los Angeles defeated the Las Vegas Raiders at home 24-19. Khalil Mack, traded to the Chargers by the Chicago Bears back in March, had six of the team’s six sacks against the Raiders. Bryce Callahan, signed by the Chargers last May to a one-year deal, had one of the three LA defensive interceptions Sunday. With that kind of defense, the Chargers are looking as legit as it gets, considering they already have a solid offense. However, wide receiver Keenan Allen hurt his hamstring in the Raiders game and was not able to finish the contest. His status is worth monitoring.

The Chargers are 3-2 against the spread in their last five games overall.

Betting on the Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5)

Regular Season Record: 1-0

Who needs Tyreek Hill? Not the Chiefs, apparently. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce teamed up to humiliate the Arizona Cardinals on the road Sunday, scoring a huge 44-21 victory. Arizona isn’t a pushover, but the Chiefs made the Cardinals look like their punching bag, with Mahomes churning out 360 passing yards on 30/39 completions while having five passing touchdowns, zero interceptions, and zero sacks. Kelce led all players from both sides with 121 receiving yards and a touchdown on eight receptions and nine targets. The Chiefs seem unstoppable and mighty fine despite the loss of Hill.

The Chiefs are 6-4 against the spread in their last 10 home games.
