Betting on the LA Clippers

Now with a 3-2 series lead, the Los Angeles Clippers could close out the series on the road in Game 6. To do that, they must overcome their troubles at Oracle Arena, where they are 2-8 SU and ATS in their last 10 games there.

[sc:NBA240banner ]The three-point shot has been one the Clippers’ main weapons in the series, as the team has stayed in step with the league’s best three-point shooting team the Warriors. Chris Paul, who is averaging 18.2 PPG in the series, is getting most of his points from beyond the arc. He has 14 of the team’s 48 threes in the series.

The Clippers are shooting better from three on the road than at home, so expect Paul and guys like J.J. Redick and sixth man Jamal Crawford to continue firing threes in Game 6. Redick and Crawford have 10 and 11 three-pointers in the series, respectively.

DeAndre Jordan showed in Game 5 that–contrary to the storyline in Game 1–the Clippers can win even if Blake Griffin gets himself in foul trouble. DJ racked up a powerful double-double with 25 points and 18 rebounds (six of them offensive) in game in which Griffin was on the pine for most of the third and fourth with foul trouble.

With the Clippers engaging the Warriors in a shootout, the total has hit the over in four of the series’ five games.

Betting on the Golden State Warriors

Stephen Curry, DeAndre Jordan, NBA, Golden State Warriors, LA Clippers

Despite the absence of Andrew Bogut and a smaller line up overall, the Warriors have still managed to outscore Los Angeles in the paint in the series, 246-196. Even more surprising is the fact that Golden State has more rebounds than the Clippers, 212-196.

Mark Jackson’s small ball tactic seemed to be working in getting his team more involved in rebounding; the Warriors have seven players with at least 15 rebounds thus far in the series, while the Clippers only have four.

However, the Warriors need to limit their turnovers. Stephen Curry, the league’s turnover king, has 22 of the team’s 95 total turnovers. In Game 5, the spitfire guard committed eight turnovers, while taking just 10 shots.

The Warriors are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games. Moreover, they are 8-2 ATS in their last ten at home against the Clippers.

Writer’s Prediction

The Warriors, playing for their season at home, will feed off the crowd’s energy and will continue to outrebound and outplay the Clippers inside. Take Golden State to cover +1.5 and force Game 7.
