Game 1, Friday, July 20, 8:10PM

Starters: Rich Hill (2-4, 4.55 ERA) vs. Wade Miley (1-1, 2.38 ERA)

Pitching:

Hill will make his first start in 10 days this Thursday, so he’ll be fresh. He is just 0-1 with a 4.59 ERA in his last five starts on the road. As for Miley, the seven-year veteran was last seen on the mound allowing only two earned runs on four hits in 5.0 innings of a 6-3 loss in Pittsburgh on July 12. He struck out five and issued as many free passes to Pirates hitters.

Hitting:

  • Ryan Braun is 2-for-5 vs. Hill.
  • Matt Kemp is 8-for-27 vs. Miley.

Writer’s Prediction:

Milwaukee wins, 5-4.

Game 2, Saturday, July 21, 7:10PM

Starters: Clayton Kershaw (3-4, 2.74 ERA) vs. Chase Anderson (6-7, 3.78 ERA)

Pitching:

Kershaw entered the All-Star break with an unusual losing record of 3-4, but he still is a sub-3.00 ERA so far this year. Plus, the Dodgers are 3-0 in his last three starts. Plus, he is 2-0 with a 2.41 ERA in three starts this month. Anderson, on the other hand, is not Kershaw nor his career is anywhere close to that of the future Hall of Famer, but he sports a 1.65 ERA over his last five starts.

Hitting:

  • Ryan Braun is 10-for-33 with a homer vs. Kershaw.
  • Matt Kemp is 7-for-20 vs. Anderson.

Writer’s Prediction:

LA wins, 4-3.

Game 3, Sunday, July 22, 2:10PM

Starters: Alex Wood (5-5, 3.92 ERA) vs. Brent Suter (8-6, 4.39 ERA)

Pitching:

Wood is 1-0 with a 3.50 ERA and 13 strikeouts in his last three starts. He also has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his past seven starts. Suter limped into the All-Star break, having given up 10 earned runs in 16.0 innings spread across three starts.

Hitting:

  • Christian Yelich is 11-for-29 vs. Wood.
  • Machado is the only Dodger on LA’s lineup that has faced Suter before. He is 0-for-3 in that matchup.

Writer’s Prediction:

Milwaukee wins, 5-4.

Writer’s Overall Series Prediction

The Brewers edge closer to the Cubs in the NL Central, by taking two of three from the NL West’s Dodgers.
