Josh Allen is turning the Buffalo Bills into a legitimate Super Bowl contender. The Bills can get more respect if they can take down the visiting Los Angeles Rams this coming weekend. Betting on the Los Angeles Rams (+2.5)
Regular Season Record: 2-0
The Rams zoom into a 2-0 start to the season after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles on the road last Sunday, 37-19. The Rams, who also beat the Dallas Cowboys, 20-17, in Week 1, overcame an injury to rookie running back Cam Akers, thanks to Jared Goff’s arm and the depth of their backfield. Wentz passed for 267 yards and three touchdowns without an interception on 20-of-27 completions. Darrell Henderson capitalized on the absence of Akers and rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. It remains unknown whether Akers is going to suit up against the Bills in Week 3, but Henderson showed he’s capable of handling RB1 duties. However, the Rams might have to pass the ball more against Buffalo, which has a stout run defense. Plus, Tyler Higbee, who caught all of Goff’s three TD passes, must be licking his chops at the prospect of dominating Buffalo’s defense that gave up 130 receiving yards and a touchdown to Miami tight end Mike Gesicki last Sunday. The Rams’ defense, which is allowing just 18.0 points per game this season, will be aiming to slow down Josh Allen’s arm.
The Rams are 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games away from home.
Betting on the Buffalo Bills (-2.5)
Regular Season Record: 2-0
The Bills are a different — and better — team on offense than they were a year ago. With Josh Allen passing the ball more, there’s just more dynamism for Buffalo’s attack that is averaging 29.0 points over the first two games of the season. Last Sunday, the Bills edged the Miami Dolphins on the road, 31-28. Granted that it was just Miami the Bills beat, Allen should still be commended for throwing for 417 passing yards and four touchdowns without an interception on 24-of-35 completions. The addition of Stefon Diggs to Buffalo’s receiving corps is working wonders for Buffalo, though, the offensive line will have to be ready for Aaron Donald and the Rams’ pass rush. Allen, who’s been sacked four times already this season, is leading the NFL with 729 passing yards to go with six touchdowns and zero interceptions. The Bills will look to take away LA’s rushing attack with their defense that’s allowed an average of just 75.5 rushing yards over the last two weeks.
The under is 4-1 in the Bills’ last four games as the home team.
Writer’s Prediction
The Rams win, 28-26.
