Betting on the Los Angeles Rams (+8.5)
Regular Season Record: 0-2
The Rams are still searching for their first win of this preseason. They followed up their 13-6 home loss to the Los Angeles Chargers with a 17-16 defeat at the hands of the Las Vegas Raiders, also in LA. Perhaps a game away from Hollywood would spark a positive change for the Rams, who saw its rushing attack show some signs of life after a forgettable performance in the Chargers game. Jake Funk rushed for 56 yards on seven carries, while quarterback Bryce Perkins flashed his dual-threat capabilities by passing for 208 yards and two touchdowns with an interception and rushing for 41 yards on two carries. Denver’s defense has been sturdy so far in the preseason, but Perkins could be the one who will rattle that stop unit.
The Rams are 2-1-1 against the spread in their last four preseason games.
Betting on the Denver Broncos (-8.5)
Regular Season Record: 2-0
Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock are still in a tight race to win the starting quarterback role in the regular season for the Broncos. Bridgewater had 105 passing yards and a touchdown on 9-of-11 completions, while Lock had 80 passing yards on 9-of-14 completions in Denver’s 30-3 demolition job of a win over the Seattle Seahawks on the road in Week 2 of the preseason. With that kind of a quarterback battle, you can count on both players to see a significant number of snaps each this coming Saturday, which is not too ideal for the Rams’ defense that might rest most, if not all, of its starters. Of course, it should be mentioned here that the Broncos’ defense has not allowed a touchdown so far in the preseason.
The Broncos are 3-0 against the spread in their last three preseason games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Broncos win, 24-10.
