Betting on the Los Angeles Rams (10-4)
The Los Angeles Rams proved to everyone who is the new king in the NFC West this season. The Rams throttled the Seattle Seahawks and their 12th man last weekend. Los Angeles beat Seattle 42-7 to take charge of the division. Rams quarterback Jared Goff threw for 120 yards and three touchdowns. The star for the Rams was running back Todd Gurley. Gurley was outstanding. He rushed for 152 yards on 21 carries and had three rushing touchdowns. Gurley also had three receptions for 28 yards and a touchdown.
Gurley’s four touchdowns weren’t the only damage done against the Seahawks. Robert Woods chipped in with six receptions for 45 yards and one touchdown receiving. The Rams offense had 352 yards of total offense in the win. Expect Goff to play big this week on the road. Defensively, the Rams made the Seahawks look like dog excrement at home. The Rams held Seattle’s offense to 149 total yards. Russell Wilson had 142 yards passing and one touchdown.
The defense allowing just one touchdown on the road to a division opponent is huge. This is only a confidence builder for the next game. Look for the Rams defense to get after overrated quarterback Marcus Mariota. Mariota will have more pressure to deal with this week at home. Expect the Rams defense to limit Mariota in this game.
Betting on the Tennessee Titans (8-6)
The Tennessee Titans are one of the most overrated teams in the NFL right now. The Titans only big win this season was against the Ravens and they should have lost, 23-20. Aside from the Ravens win, and a win against the depleted Seahawks, the Titans are not impressive.
Marcus Mariota is starting to look like a guy playing for his starting job. Everytime he takes the field, you have to expect him to either manage the game, or get hurt. Pay close attention the the play of Mariota this week to understand what I mean about his ability to play quarterback in this league. Mariota had 241 yards and two touchdowns last week, on 23 of 33 passing. Arguably the best game of the season for him in a loss to then 2-10 San Francisco.
Defensively, the Titans are a middle of the pack type of team. Tennessee is allowing 22.8 points per game this season. Good enough for 22nd in the NFL this year. Expect the defense to try and carry the Titans to a win, and closer to a playoff berth. It is going to be a tough task against the Rams.
Writer’s Prediction
Tennessee is at home, but I expect the crowd to be 50/50 as they usually are in Tennessee. The game might have a neutral field type of feeling. Jared Goff will show Marcus Mariota how it’s done in this game. Todd Gurley will be a big reason he does so. Marcus Mariota is still the starter for Tennessee? Take the Rams in a road blowout.Pick: Rams (-7)
