Betting on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (+6.5)
Record: 5-4 Overall / 4-2 Conference
Louisiana Tech obviously wants to finish this strange season on a positive note. The Bulldogs got destroyed in their most recent game, which was a 52-10 beating at the hands of the TCU Horned Frogs on the road on Dec. 12. Prior to that, the Bulldogs scored a 42-31 road victory over the North Texas Mean Green on Dec. 3, which was also their first game since Halloween. Last year, Louisiana Tech ended the 2019 season with a 14-0 win over the Miami Hurricanes are the Walk-On’s Independent Bowl. Perhaps that long layoff in November due to COVID-19 reasons might be a positive factor for the Bulldogs, who have only played nine games so far, three fewer than Georgia Southern. Louisiana Tech is a pass-heavy team, as it is 29th nationally with a 52.21 pass play percentage. The Bulldogs’ attack will be led by senior quarterback Luke Anthony, wh has 1,479 passing yards and 16 touchdowns against five interceptions on the season.
The over is 3-1 in Louisiana Tech’s last four games overall.
Betting on the Georgia Southern Eagles (-6.5)
Record: 7-5 Overall / 4-4 Conference
Georgia Southern will enter Wednesday’s bowl game after going 1-3 in its last four games. They most recently lost to the Appalachian State Mountaineers at home on Dec. 12, 34-26. Before that, the Eagles snatched a 20-3 victory over the Florida Atlantic Owls, also at home, on Dec. 5. Compared to the Bulldogs, Georgia Tech relies much less on its passing attack. In fact, the Eagles are third in the nation with a 76.83 rushing play percentage., They are fourth overall with 48.5 rushes per game and sixth with 260.5 rushing yards per game. They have four players who have at least 447 rushing yards this season, led by dual threat quarterback Shai Werts, who’s rushed for 649 yards and eight touchdowns on 131 carries. Don’t expect the Eagles to shy away from what they do best when they hit the field in New Orleans, especially since Louisiana Tech has an awful run defense that is just 94th in the nation.
Georgia Southern is 3-1 against the spread in their last four games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Georgia Southern wins, 37-27.
