Betting on the Louisville Cardinals (20-5, 8-4 ACC)
The No. 4 Cardinals returned to winning ways last Saturday, taking down Miami at home, 71-66. It was a nice pick-me-up victory following a bitter 71-55 loss to No. 12 Virginia.
The highlight of the win over Miami was the excellent form of Quentin Snider, who returned from a six-game absence due to a hip injury, and scored 13 points. He should get better moving forward as he sheds the rusts from the layoff. Deng Adel, meanwhile, came off the bench and chipped in 18 points, the same output as starter as Donovan Mitchell. The Cardinals shot just 39.3 percent from the field but that’s against a Miami squad that allows just 64.5 points per game.
Find the bottom of the net should be an easier task for Louisville this time around against Syracuse, which is just 102nd in the nation in adjusted defensive efficiency.
Conversely, Louisville’s defense is among the best in the nation. It surrenders just 62.8 PPG and is currently second in Division I ball in adjusted defensive efficiency per Kenpom.com.
Louisville is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Syracuse Orange (16-10, 8-5 ACC)
Fresh off an 80-75 road loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday that derailed plans of winning their six-straight contest, the Orange return home, looking to get back in the win column. The Orange are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games as the home team.
Andrew White III scored 20 points against Pittsburgh, which was his sixth-straight game he scored at least 20 points. He leads the team with 17.7 PPG. With Louisville’s defense focused on slowing him down later tonight, White should get support from the likes of Tyler Lydon and Tyus Battle offensively.
Lydon is averaging 13.8 PPG on the season but scored just eight points in the loss to the Panthers. Battle had a worse performance, playing just 16 minutes and going 1-for-5 from the field for a measly three points. Battle is a better player than what his previous production suggests, as he’s pumping out 10.0 PPG so far this season.
As a team, Syracuse is putting up 76.7 points per game. The Orange are third in the ACC in three-points made (231) and also third in three-point shooting percentage (39.1%).
Writer’s Prediction
