Betting on the LSU Tigers (-7)

The Tigers ran into a wall that was Alabama’s defense in last week’s 10-0 loss in Baton Rouge, but that’s all right, considering how virtually impenetrable the Crimson Tide’s stop unit has been this season.

Facing Arkansas next after getting crippled by Alabama must be making the Tigers feel like they just got released from a concentration camp. LSU’s offense was humming in the three contests prior to the Alabama debacle, averaging 41.6 points per game during that span.

Running back Leonard Fournette is primed for a bounce back performance after producing just 35 rushing yards against Alabama. Fournette is capable of embarrassing mediocre run defenses just like Arkansas’, which is just 11th in the conference against the run.

Meanwhile, not many negatives can be said about LSU’s defense, especially after it allowed the Crimson Tide to score just 10 points. The Tigers are sixth in the FBS in scoring defense, allowing just 14.4 points per game. LSU is 3-1 SU and ATS in its last four games overall.

Betting on the Arkansas Razorbacks (+7)

Arkansas is finally on the last stop of a brutal five-game stretch against ranked opponents. The Hogs were successful the last time out, though, having upset No. 11 Florida in a 31-10 victory at home.

The Razorbacks’ defense deserved big props for slowing down Florida’s offense that managed just 241 total yards. Hopefully for Arkansas, that performance on the defensive end wasn’t just an apparition, a the Hogs are going to need all hands on deck in trying to stop Fournette. Arkansas surrendered just 12 rushing yards to the Gators.

Quarterback Austin Allen is coming off a decent showing in the Florida game, passing for 243 yards and a touchdown on 15 of 26 completions. He did throw a pick six, which should remind him to be extra careful against LSU’s merciless defense that has seven interceptions on the season.

Rawleigh Williams III and Devwah Whaley, on the other hand, will try to match Fournette’s production. Williams rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns against Florida, while Whaley added 66 yards on 14 carries.

Arkansas is 3-1 SU and 4-0 ATS in its last four games as the home team in this matchup.
