Betting on Matteo Berrettini (-260 to win)

Berrettini has taken quite a leap this 2021. After reaching the Round of 16 in the 2021 Australian Open, he made it all the way to the quarterfinals phase of the 2021 French Open. And now, he’s got a chance to clinch his first-ever finals berth in a grand slam tournament, as he prepares for a semifinals battle against Hurkacz. Berrettini defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime in five sets during the quarterfinals of the 2021 Wimbledon. Ranked ninth in the world, Berrettini has dropped just a single set over his last four matches. Berrettini’s power has been a problem for his opponents in the tournament. He had 20 aces in each of his first three matches in the 2021 Wimbledon. According to ATP TOUR’s website, Berrettini has an 18-5 record on ATP grass matches in his career. The Italian beat Hurkacz the last time they met, thought that was on a hardcourt, during the 2019 Miami Masters.

Betting on Hubert Hurkacz (+207 to win)

Roger Federer’s mission to win one more grand slam before turning 40 this coming August came to an end in the 2021 Wimbledon, as he got bounced out of the tournament by a 24-year-old Polish in the form of Hurkacz. Federer lost to Hurkacz in straight sets, including a shutout in the final set, getting Hurkacz a spot in the semis in London. Prior to this tournament, Hurkacz has never reached even the fourth round of a grand slam event since he began playing in one back in 2018. Hurkacz broke Federer’s serve a total of 15 times, winning five of them. Hurkacz must be feeling so good right now after defeating a legend like that. That should give him all the positive vibes he needs as he prepares to take on Berrettini, whom he has also defeated before. Hurkacz beat Berrettini in their first-ever meeting back in the 2018 Australian Open.

Writer’s Prediction

Berrettini wins in five sets.
