Betting on the Memphis Grizzlies (odds)
Regular Season Record: 55-24
The Grizzlies had their seven-game win streak snapped in a 121-115 overtime loss on the road to the Utah Jazz last Tuesday. Even in a loss, Memphis looked impressive. Still without Ja Morant, the Grizzlies had three players at least 23 points against the Jazz, led by Jaren Jackson Jr., who scored 28 points with 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Jackson can be a nightmare for opposing teams. With JJJ in the middle, the Grizzlies can feel confident that they have someone who can effectively slow down Nikola Jokic, and that’s not to mention the presence of Steve Adams.
The Grizzlies, who are second in the league with 115.4 points per game and No. 1 with 58.6 rebounds per contest, are 3-0 straight up and 3-0 against the spread in three meetings with Denver this season.
Betting on the Denver Nuggets (odds)
Regular Season Record: 47-33
The Nuggets have just been upset by the San Antonio Spurs in a 116-97 home loss to Gregg Popovich’s squad Tuesday night. Before that, Denver dealt the Los Angeles Lakers a 129-118 loss Sunday. The Nuggets are now 6-2 straight up in eight games and only 1-3 in their last three. Nevertheless, this is a team that has arguably the best player in the league in the form of Jokic. The Serbian dropped 41 points on the Spurs. He comes into the Memphis game having averaged 38.5 points in the last four games. As Popovich put it after the win over Denver, he doesn’t “think anybody has figured” how exactly Jokic can be stopped. As a team, the Nuggets are 10th in the NBA with 112.3 points per game and third in assists with 27.7 dimes per contest.
The Over is 7-3 in the Nuggets’ last 10 games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
The Nuggets win, 111-108.
