Betting on the Michigan Wolverines (odds)
Record: 19-6 Overall/8-4 Conference
Unlike the Wolverines, Michigan State has some momentum to ride on to East Lansing. The Spartans have won their last two games, winning against the Maryland Terrapins (63-58) at home and versus the Ohio State Buckeyes (62-41) on the road. They are well-rested too, having not played yet this week. The Spartans boast of a terrific defense, which has often delivered great results for the team. They have not allowed an opponent to record an effective field goal percentage better than 43% in any of their last three games. On the season, they are No. 1 in the Big Ten with an opponents’ eFG% of 45.2%. The Spartans held Michigan to only 37.3 eFG% in the first meeting.
Betting on the Michigan State Spartans (odds)
Record: 16-9 Overall/7-5 Conference
Michigan will look to prevent a three-game skid, which the Wolverines haven’t experienced this season, when the team goes up against Michigan State this weekend. The Wolverines lost their last two games to the Indiana Hoosiers (62-61) at home and to the Wisconsin Badgers (64-59) on the road last Saturday and Tuesday, respectively. Kobe Bufkin and Hunter Dickinson carried most of the load on offense for Michigan in the loss to the Badgers, scoring 21 and 12 points, respectively. Those two will be relied upon again by Michigan in the rematch versus Michigan State. They combined for 33 points in Michigan’s 59-56 loss in East Lansing to the Spartans last January.
Michigan is 3-2 against the spread in its last five games.
Writer’s Prediction
Michigan State wins,65-62.
