Betting on the Nebraska Cornhuskers (odds)
Record: (12-14 Overall/5-10 Conference
Nebraska rebounded from a 93-72 loss in Ann Arbor last Wednesday to the Michigan Wolverines by beating the Wisconsin Badgers at home on Saturday, 73-63. The Cornhuskers simply had more gas in the tank than the Badgers, as they outscored Wisconsin in overtime by 10 points. Nebraska, which is 2-1 straight up in its last three outings, has a solid 1-2 inside-outside combo in big man Derrick Walker and guard Keisei Tominaga, who scored 18 and 22 points, respectively versus the Badgers. The Cornhuskers have a pretty decent defense that entered the Wisconsin game allowing only 98.3 points per 100 possessions adjusted – top 60 in the nation.
The Over is 2-0 in Nebraska’s last two outings.
Betting on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (odds)
Record: 16-9 Overall/8-6 Conference
Rutgers is looking to get out of a slump. The Scarlet Knights did not have a very good weekend, as they just lost to the Illinois Fighting Irish on Saturday on the road, 69-60. Their last two losses were both on the road, so perhaps returning home for this upcoming matchup against Nebraska will be the cure to the Cornhuskers’ recent malaise. Rutgers is 14-2 straight up in home games this season. They have home wins against the likes of the Purdue Boilermakers, Maryland Terrapins, and Michigan State Spartans. The Scarlet Knights, who are second in the nation in adjusted defensive efficiency, are 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games as the home team.
Writer’s Prediction
Rutgers wins, 69-65.
