Betting on the Michigan Wolverines (26-4 Overall / 15-4 Conference)

The Wolverines slashed their last two opponents for a two-game winning streak ahead of a trip to East Lansing. After beating the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Ann Arbor, 82-53, the Wolverines scored a road win over the No. 17 Maryland Terrapins last Sunday, 69-62. Michigan’s offense has experience an uptick lately. The Wolverines are averaging 70.7 points per game this season, but has put up 73.7 over their last three games. Against the Terps, Michigan leaned on freshman Ignas Brazdeikis, who paced the team with 21 points to go with seven rebounds. He’s feeling it over the past couple of games, having also scored 20 points in the win over Nebraska. He had 16 in a 77-70 home loss to the Spartans last month, but those were wasted by Michigan’s defense that failed to put the clamps on Michigan State. Still. Michigan is tops on third in the nation with just 58.3 points allowed per game.

Michigan is 14-11 against the spread (ATS) at home this season.

Betting on the Michigan State Spartans (24-6 Overall / 15-4 Conference)

Michigan State’s win in February over the Wolverines was arguably its best feat to date this season. For one, the Spartans took down their rivals in enemy territory despite missing two of their best players. Those are Joshua Langford and Nick Ward. Both players sat that game out due to injuries. They will be unavailable again this weekend, which means that Michigan State is going to need to coax another huge performance from point guard Cassius Winston, who exploded for 27 points in the Michigan game. The Wolverines seem to have no one capable of staying in front of Winston, as he had 14 trips to the foul line and hit 13 free throws. Winston also had eight of the Spartans’ 15 assists. Ball movement is going to be crucial once again for Michigan State in trying to break down Michigan’s stout defense.

The Spartans, which is third in the nation with 19.3 assists per game, are 7-3 straight up (SU) in their last 10 home games against Michigan. They beat the Nebraska Cornhuskers last Tuesday at home, 90-76.

Writer’s Prediction

Michigan State wins, 69-64.
