Minnesota suffered a 34-31 overtime loss on the road to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9. The Vikings looked good on the early goings of that contest, but their offense suddenly encountered difficulties, which is never an ideal scenario for any team that’s up against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. Still, Kirk Cousins finished with 187 passing yards and two touchdowns without an interception on 17/28 completions. Cousins’ protection unit did a good job in preventing sacks, with the quarterback finishing the game without getting taken to the ground. Running back Dalvin Cook rushed for 110 yards on 17 carries. Despite the Ravens scoring over 30 points, the Vikings’ defense still had success, with three sacks and two interceptions. Those are the positives from that game the Vikings need to carry over into this matchup against the Chargers.
The Vikings are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games as an underdog.
Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (-2.5)
Regular Season Record: 5-3
The Chargers got their mojo back. After losing back to back to the Ravens and the New England Patriots, Los Angeles prevented a three-game losing skid by defeating the Philadelphia Eagles on the road, 27-24. Justin Herbert was like a smooth operator under center in that game, passing for 356 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions on a sweet 32/38 completions. The Chargers are as complete of a team as they come on offense. Apart from Herbert, they have Keenan Allen and Mike Williams downfield, while Austin Ekeler has been quite a presence both on the ground and on the air with his pass-catching abilities. Los Angeles is 14th in the NFL with 24.9 points per game and 10th with 3.1 touchdowns per contest. It’s also worth noting how good LA’s offensive line is in protecting Herbert, as the Chargers are sixth in quarterback sack rate.
The Chargers are 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
