Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees (7:05 PM ET)
Line: Toronto Blue Jays (+155) at New York Yankees (-175); total: 8.0 – see all MLB lines
[sc:MLB240banner ]The Toronto Blue Jays haven’t won at Yankee Stadium since September of 2012, a lengthy 13-game stretch.
Hopes of breaking their slump tonight aren’t looking good for the Blue Jays, as they are set to face New York Yankees’ ace and American League ERA leader Masahiro Tanaka (10-1, 2.02 ERA). Toronto is 8-2 in their last 10 road games, though, while New York is 4-0 in Tanaka’s last four home starts.
Writer’s Prediction: Same old result for the Yankees when Tanaka is on the mound. Yankees win versus Toronto.
Kansas City Royals vs. Detroit Tigers (7:08 PM ET)
Line: Kansas City Royals (+135) at Detroit Tigers (-150); total: 8.0 – see all MLB lines
After taking down former Cy Young winner Justin Verlander en route to their eighth straight victory last night, the Kansas City Royals will now have to deal with the reigning Cy Young winner in Max Scherzer (8-2, 3.05 ERA).
The Royals are averaging 7.4 runs in their last five games, all of which have gone over the totals. The Tigers, meanwhile, are 12-0 in Scherzer’s last 12 home starts.
Writer’s Prediction: Scherzer shuts down the Royals.
San Francisco Giants vs. Chicago White Sox (8:10 PM ET)
Line: San Francisco Giants (-120) at Chicago White Sox (+110); total: 8.5 – see all MLB lines
Last week was rough for the San Francisco Giants, who finished their 10-game homestand against the Mets, Nationals, and Rockies, with a 4-6 record. They’ll now begin a five-game road trip tonight at Chicago.
The Giants are 7-3 in their last 10 road games, while the Chicago White Sox – who are also looking to regain their bearings after going 0-4 in their last four games – have won in the last two starts of lefty John Danks (5-5, 4.17 ERA). Danks went 2-1 with a 1.53 ERA in his last four starting gigs.
Writer’s Prediction: The White Sox extend the woes of San Francisco.
Texas Rangers vs. Oakland Athletics (10:05 PM ET)
Line: Texas Rangers (-110) at Oakland Athletics (EVEN); total: 7.0 – see all MLB lines
The Texas Rangers beat the Oakland A’s in their own game last night, outscoring the AL’s top scoring team in a 14-8 slugfest.
The Rangers may not need to score that many runs again tonight in order to win as Yu Darvish (7-2, 2.11 ERA) takes the mound, intent on silencing Oakland’s hitters. The Rangers are 6-0 in Darvish’s last six starts. However, the A’s are 7-1 in their last eight games after a loss.
Writer’s Prediction: The A’s manage enough runs to defeat Texas.
Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (10:10 PM ET)
Line: Colorado Rockies (+165) at Los Angeles Dodgers (-185); total: 7.0 – see all MLB lines
Before losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers last night, 6-1, the Colorado Rockies enjoyed a five-game winning streak during which they banged in 7.6 runs per game. The Rockies seek to find their offense and restart their momentum anew later tonight. The over is 4-1 in Colorado’s last five games. However, the Los Angeles Dodgers are 7-3 in the last 10 home starts of Zack Greinke (8-3, 2.65 ERA).
Writer’s Prediction: Colorado turns up the heat from the plate, beats Dodgers.
