Betting on the New England Patriots (+3.0)
Regular Season Record: 2-3
The Patriots took apart Detroit in Week 5 on the strength of a sensational defense and an absolute monster of a performance by running back Rhamondre Stevenson. New England deflated the Lions’ offense that entered Week 5 as the highest-scoring team in the league. Stevenson, on the other hand, rushed for 161 yards on 25 carries. Zappe was far from sensational under center, as he tossed a touchdown and an interception on 17/21 completions for just 188 passing yards, but at least he got the full taste of what it’s like to start. That kind of experience will boost his confidence if draws another start in Week 6, which is contingent on the health of Mac Jones, who is questionable at the moment.
The Patriots are 2-0 against the spread in their last two games overall.
Betting on the Cleveland Browns (-3.0)
Regular Season Record: 2-3
The Browns found yet another way to lose in Week 5, this time with Cade York missing what would have been a game-winning field goal. The Browns have now lost three of their last four games and will need to get it together ASAP. Despite York’s miss, the Browns’ offense has been producing of late and can’t be described as inept. The Browns woke up Sunday ranked sixth in the league with 26.6 points scored per game and fourth with 396.4 total yards per contest. If Zappe will once again be the starter for the Pats, Browns pass rushers Jadeveon Clowney. And Myles Garrett should be licking their chops already.
The Over is 3-0 in the Browns’ last three games as the home team.
Writer’s Prediction
The Browns win, 20-13.
