Betting on the New Orleans Pelicans (+4)
Regular Season Record: 31-28
The Pelicans will likely not have the duo of Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson for this game against the Warriors. Both players have been ruled out indefinitely due to injuries. New Orleans is still considering Ingram doubtful for Wednesday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks on the road but it’ll be surprising if the Pelicans let him see action. Instead, look for New Orleans to ask Lonzo Ball and Eric Bledsoe to lead the team against the Warriors, whom the Pelicans defeated in the last meeting of these teams. Ball exploded for 33 points to go with 6 rebounds and 4 assists in a 108-103 win over Golden State at home on May 4, while Bledsoe chipped in 14 points. The Pelicans are currently eighth in the NBA with 114.8 points per game on 47.8 percent shooting from the field and tops in rebounding with 56.0 boards per contest.
The Pelicans are 5-4-1 against the spread in their last 10 games against the Warriors.
Betting on the Golden State Warriors (-4)
Regular Season Record: 37-33
The Warriors are heating up at just the right time, ahead of their looming appearance in the play-in tournament. They have gone 4-0 straight up in their last four games, including back-to-back wins against the top teams in the West. They beat the Utah Jazz, 119-116, and the Phoenix Suns, 122-116, in their last two games, respectively. Curry is the No. 1 reason the Warriors are having success late in the regular season, but in the win against the Suns, it was Andrew Wiggins who stole the limelight. The former Kansas Jayhawks star scored 38 points on 17-of-24 shooting from the field, while Curry had 21 points. Curry went just 1 of 11 from behind the arc, but he could recover this shooting touch right away. He scored 41 points with 8 threes in the Warriors’ 123-108 road win over the Pelicans on May 3 before dropping 37 points with 8 triples again the following day, albeit in a loss to New Orleans.
The Warriors are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Warriors win, 120-114.
