The Golden State Warriors are merely polishing themselves for the playoffs. They could use another “tuneup” game against the New Orleans Pelicans this Saturday, when they welcome Anthony Davis and company in Oakland. Read on for a preview of this match up.

Betting on the New Orleans Pelicans (44-34)
Anthony Davis wasn’t around the last time the Pelicans shared the court with Golden State, so New Orleans is expecting a better outcome this time around against the defending NBA champions. Davis sat out with strained left adductor when the Pellies absorbed a 125-115 loss to Golden State on Dec. 4. In the other two meetings with the Warriors, New Orleans both had Davis and DeMarcus Cousins, who is now out for the season due to an Achilles injury. Still, even with only just Davis on the court this Saturday, the Pelicans should be a force at least in the paint. The Pelicans are second in the league when it comes to scoring in the shaded area with 51.9 points in the paint per game. Saturday’s game will also be the first time that New Orleans will play Golden State with Nikola Mirotic in the Pelicans’ fold, making them some sort of a mystery for the Warriors.
Betting on the Golden State Warriors (57-21)
This is the Warriors’ last home game of the regular season, and they want nothing less than a win in front of their home fans before coming back to Oracle Arena in the playoffs. The Warriors have shot the ball well in all their meetings so far this season with New Orleans. In those games, Golden State has knocked down 48.2 percent of its shots from the field and hit 14.7 three-pointers on 41.5 percent shooting percent Stephen Curry is the Warriors’ leading scorer in this matchup, but he will not be able to play this Saturday due to a knee issue. Instead, the Warriors’ offense will mostly be handled by the pair of Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant, who are averaging 19.9 and 26.5 points this season, respectively. Both players should have a field day draining shots against New Orleans’ porous defense that ranks second worst in the league with 110.7 points allowed per outing.
Writer’s Prediction:
Golden State wins, 116-108.
