New Orleans Saints vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Predictions, Picks, Odds, and Betting Preview – NFL Week 14 – December 9 2018

The New Orleans Saints are coming off a loss for the first time since Week 2. They will look to make their way back in the win column against one of the only two teams who have defeated them so far this season in the form of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs are fresh off a big win against the Carolina Panthers to extend their win streak to two games. Going into this Sunday, the Saints are +325 to win the Super Bowl, behind the Rams who are the current favorites by a slim margin (-300).

Betting on the New Orleans Saints (10-2)

The Saints saw their 10-game win streak end last Sunday, when they were shockingly tripped by the Dallas Cowboys in a 13-10 loss in Arlington. The Saints’ usually lethal and overpowering offense was silenced by the Cowboys’ resurgent defense. Fortunately for the Saints, the Buccaneers don’t have that kind of stop unit. Drew Brees, who only had 127 passing yards and touchdown with an interception on 18-of-28 completions against Dallas, should be able to slice through Tampa Bay’s punching bag pass defense that ranks 28th in the NFL with 274.4 passing yards allowed per game. Brees went bonkers back in Week 1, albeit in a 48-40 home loss to the Bucs, passing for 439 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions on 37-of-45 completions. As what the score of that game suggests, the Saints’ defense then was also incredibly poor, but they have greatly improved of late, having allowed just 12.3 points in their last three games – the fewest in the NFL over that span.

The Saints are 6-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last seven road games.

Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-7)

The Bucs added to the headaches of the Carolina Panthers in Week 13, as they took down Cam Newton and company at home to the tune of a 24-17 score. Somehow, the Bucs have noticeably improved on the defensive end of the field. Prior to their win over Carolina, they defeated the San Francisco 49ers at home, 27-9. Holding down the Saints’ attack near those numbers, however, are unlikely for the Bucs, so they will need their offense to step up once again.  That being said, the Bucs may have some momentum defensively heading into the rematch with the Saints after recording four interceptions and four sacks against the Panthers. This time around, the Bucs will have Jameis Winston, and not Ryan Fitzpatrick, under center. Winston has been in top form lately. He has passed for 561 passing yards and four touchdowns with zero errors in the last two games. The Bucs are 10th in the league with 26.5 points per game. They also lead the NFL with 442.7 total yards per contest.

The Buccaneers are 2-0 SU and 2-0 ATS in their last two road games.

Writer’s Prediction

New Orleans wins, 38-29.
