Betting on the New York Giants (1-1 Preseason Record)
After sitting out last week’s 30-17 win over the Detroit Lions at home, Eli Manning can be expected to take the field this coming Friday and play more snaps than he did back in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns. But before he takes over most of the quarterbacking duties, backup Davis Webb had some flashes of brilliance in the Lions game, as he completed 14 of 20 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions. Star rookie running back Saquon Barkley missed Week 2’s contest to rest a strained hamstring, and he may continue to sit out Friday’s game since there’s no urgent need for New York to risk further aggravation of that injury.
The Giants are 3-1 SU in their last four preseason games overall.
Betting on the New York Jets (1-1 Preseason Record)
In his first career NFL start, rookie quarterback Sam Darnold put up a performance that suggested he definitely needs more time as an understudy first before taking on a starter role. Darnold went 8 of 11 for 62 yards with no touchdown strikes and an interception in a 15-13 loss to the Washington Redskins last week. Darnold’s struggles only illuminated the chances of Teddy Bridgewater to win the starting job, though, there’ still Josh McCown as the favorite to be under center come Week 1 of the regular season. Bridgewater completed 10 of his 15 passes against the Redskins for 127 yards and a touchdown with an interception. Having all said of that, there are rumors that the Jets could only be showing Bridgewater to up his trade value.
The Jets are 3-1 ATS in their last four preseason games.
Writer’s Prediction
