Betting on the New York Giants (+3.5)
Regular Season Record: 0-1
The Giants are off to a rough start. Despite the return of Saquon Barkley and the addition of Kenny Golladay, New York’s offense just still doesn’t seem right. Better play from Daniel Jones will continue to be something Giants fans will ask for. He went 22/37 for 267 passing yards and a touchdown but had a crucial fumble in the Giants’ 27-13 home loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 1. Despite that, the Giants can say that they will have the best quarterback on the field in Week 2’s game against Washington. The Football Team lost Ryan Fitzpatrick to injury, which means it’s going to be Taylor Heinicke, who’ll be slinging the ball for Washington. That’s perhaps a better scenario for the Giants’ defense that recorded two sacks in the Denver game.
The under is 9-1-1 in the Giants’ last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Washington Football Team (-3.5)
Regular Season Record: 0-1
As mentioned, Washington will not have Fitzpatrick for at least a few weeks after the veteran quarterback suffered a hip injury in Week 1’s 20-16 at home to the Los Angeles Chargers. Heinicke was decent under center in that game, as he went 11/15 for 122 passing yards and a touchdown. Although the loss of Fitzpatrick puts a cap on Washington’s offense, the team’s attack has the potential to explode thanks to dynamite playmakers like running back Antonio Gibson and wide receiver Terry McLaurin. Heinicke also offers more than Fitzpatrick in terms of mobility, something the Giants’ offense struggled with in containing Denver’s Teddy Bridgewater last Sunday. The Broncos also went 7/15 on third-downs against that same Giants defense.
Washington is 5-4-1 against the spread in its last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Giants win, 26-23.
