New York Jets as 2.5-point favorites on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? You bet (well, unless you don’t). After Tampa Bay came off a 9-7 season last year, many expected better from them in the NFC here in 2017. Didn’t happen. The Jets, however, deemed by many to be one of the worst teams in NFL history have turned things around a bit, and are coming into Week 10 where they look for their fifth win of the season, and their potential seventh cover, after covering six of their last seven games.

Betting on the New York Jets (4-5)
The New York Jets are one game under .500 this season and in last place in the AFC division. Not bad for a team that some projected to win three games all year. Quarterback Josh McCown has played solid at the position this year for the Jets. He has passed for 1980 yards, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions this season.
In last weeks win, the Jets offense totaled 331 yards for the game. Jets running backs Matt Forte and Bilal Powell combined for 151 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns in the 14 point win. When the Jets run game is going, that allows McCown to manage the game and put the Jets in a position to win. If the game is put solely on his shoulders, New York will want to avoid that at all costs this week.
Look for the Jets to establish the run game early against the Buccaneers. If they can do so, McCown can pass for 200 yards or more in this matchup. On the defensive side of the things, the Jets are allowing 367 yards and 23 points per game this season. Expect the Jets to take advantage of the injury to Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston. The Jets secondary is allowing 246 yards per game this year. New York should limit Tampa’s passing attack this week.
The Jets will have to be prepared for whoever the Buccaneers decide to start. Ryan Fitzpatrick could be the guy. If so, the Jets are familiar with Fitzpatrick, he was a starter for New York last season.
Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-6)
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers showed a ton of frustration in last weeks loss to New Orleans. Tampa Bay was blown out by 20 points and lost two key pieces to the offense in the process. Quarterback Jameis Winston has played through a shoulder injury the past few games, but injured the shoulder again in last weeks loss. The Buccaneers announced Winston will be shut down the next two weeks.
To make things worse, there was an altercation in last weeks loss including Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans. Evans was suspended for this weeks game. With Evans and Winston out this week, this could make things difficult for the Buccaneers to move the ball and score points.
Defensively, the Buccaneers are struggling. They are allowing 395 yards and almost 25 points per game this season. The Secondary has been especially terrible, allowing 278 yards per game this year. Look for the Tampa Bay defense to have extra pressure on them this week. Without Winston and Evans on offense, the Buccaneers defense could be in for a long day.
Writer’s Prediction:
With the injury to Jameis Winston and Mike Evans getting suspended one game, the Jets defense should be licking their chops this week. The Jets will be well prepared for the struggling Buccaneers in this one. Look for the offense to have a big day passing the ball. Pick: New York (-2.5)
