CC Sabathia looks to get his third win of the season while also keeping slate clean as he toes the rubber in the series opener. Sabathia last took to the mound on May 5 at home and walked with a no-decision after giving up four earned runs on nine hits in four innings of a 5-4 home loss to the Red Sox. The under is 3-0 in Sabathia’s last three road starts. The Royals, meanwhile, will counter Sabathia with 25-year-old Jakob Junis, who took the loss in a 6-2 defeat at the hands of the Indians on the road on May 12 in which he allowed four earned runs on four hits in 5.2 innings of action. He did strike out seven hitters, though.

Pitching:
Luis Severino has simply been amazing for the Yankees so far this season. In fact, the Yankees have gone undefeated in each of his last six starts, including his home outing on May 13 in which the right-handed hurler tossed six innings of one-run ball while striking out seven in a 6-2 win over Oakland. As for the Royals, they’ll have Danny Duffy, who crashed and burned in his last mound duty on May 13 in an 11-2 road loss to Cleveland. Against the Indians. Duffy allowed nine earned runs on nine hits (two homers) in just 3.1 innings.
The over is 2-1 in Duffy’s last three home starts.
Hitting:
- The Royals’’ current roster only has a .143 batting average against Severino.
