Betting on the OKC Thunder (23-20)
The Thunder are on a mini-win streak. Oklahoma City has won all of its last three games, which includes a dominant 114-90 win over the Los Angeles Lakers last Wednesday. Thunder forward Carmelo Anthony went vintage Melo in that game, scoring 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field with four three-pointers. Anthony is now on a nice groove, as he has scored at least points in back-to-back games, and he will look to continue his streak against a Cleveland defense that does not seem to have an idea what defense is. The Cavaliers owns a punching bag defense that has allowed 115.6 points over their lasts five games. That sounds like money for Anthony and the Thunder, who should be able to find their way on offense again after shooting 48.4 percent from the field against the Lakers. The Thunder have covered the spread in four of their last six road games.
Betting on the Cleveland Cavaliers (26-16)
Even though they stopped their losing streak at four games, the Cavs still did not look that good Thursday, when they took down the Orlando Magic at home, 104-103. As mentioned earlier, the defending Eastern Conference champions’ defense remain a big problem for the Cavs. They allowed a dizzying total of 60 points in the paint, as the Magic repeatedly waltz their way into the shaded area. LeBron James will eye for a better game himself after a subpar performance in the Magic game, scoring just 16 points with six assists, and six turnovers. On the season, the four-time MVP is averaging 27.0 points, 8.7 assists, and 8.0 rebounds per game. Kevin Love, meanwhile, will have to wake up. He is averaging only 12.6 points in his last five games, scoring just 12 against Orlando. The Cavaliers are 3-1 SU and 4-0 ATS in their last four home games against the Thunder, though.
Writer’s Prediction:
Cleveland wins, 103-101.
