Betting on the Oklahoma City Thunder (24-16)
The Oklahoma City Thunder stretched their unbeaten run to three games with a thrilling 103-95 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night. Leading the way for the Thunder in this narrow win was Russell Westbrook. He scored 24 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out 12 assists to post his 18th triple-double of the season.
Key to the Thunder’s resurgence has been their phenomenal offense. They’re averaging a whopping 111 points over their last three games. Providing the impetus for this offensive explosion is the red-hot Westbrook. He’s averaging 31.0 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.5 assists through his first 40 games. He’s on track to become the first player since Oscar Robertson to average a triple-double in a single season.
Westbrook and the rest of the Thunder will look to replicate that performance when they take on the Wolves later tonight. Oklahoma City will fancy its chances of doing just that as it has fared extremely well against Minnesota of late. The Thunder have won 12 of their last 13 games against the Wolves. They beat the Wolves by an average of 16 points in their first two meetings this season. Oklahoma City covered the spread in both of those games.
The Thunder are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 road games.
Betting on the Minnesota Timberwolves (13-26)
Can you believe it? The Wolves have got a winning run going. Minnesota recorded back-to-back wins for the first time since December when it beat Houston, 119-105, on Wednesday. It was a stunning victory by the Wolves who snapped the Rockets’ nine-game winning streak. Minnesota used a balanced offensive attack to pull off that shock win with six Wolves players scoring in double-figures.
For the Wolves to grab their third consecutive win tonight, they will need their starting unit to deliver the goods once again. Minnesota’s starters combined for 75 points on Wednesday. Andrew Wiggins scored 28 points against the Rockets while Karl-Anthony Towns chipped in 23 points and 18 boards. Towns has been a beast for the Wolves this season, averaging 21.7 points and 11.8 boards per game. He will be licking his chops at the prospect of facing an OKC frontline that’s allowing 47.7 points inside the paint per game this season, the highest in the NBA.
The Wolves are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games.
