FAVORITES
Dustin Johnson (+1500)
Johnson remains winless this year after not even making the cut in the 2021 3M Open. That was a disappointing turnout for Johnson after going 4 of 4 in his previous starts that include a T8 in The Open Championship 2021. At some point, Johnson is going to get his mojo back. Watch out for him this week down at TPC Southwind, where he has a pair of wins and four top 4s in eight career starts there. Johnson won the 2012 and 2018 editions of the FedEx St. Jude Classic. The last time he was there, he finished 12th in the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational 2021.
Rory McIlroy (+1800)
McIlroy might be more interested in playing this week at TPC Southwind than in the Olympics. It could be remembered that the Northern Irishman sounded lethargic when talking about going to Tokyo and playing in the Olympics, but he should feel more energetic for the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational 2021. After all, the money to be won at TPC Southwind is huge. McIlroy finished with just a T46 in his last PGA TOUR event, which was at The Open Championship 2021, where he scored 70 or more in three of four rounds. McIlroy will be looking to make a stronger impression at TPC Southwind, where he has a couple of top 7s in four career starts there.
Collin Morikawa (+1200)
Morikawa is arguably the hottest golfer right now on the PGA TOUR. He just won the Claret Jug in The Open Championship 2021 — his second major win by age 24. Prior to that, he was second in the Memorial Tournament 2021 and settled for a T4 in the US Open 2021. Morikawa is 5 of 5 in his last five starts and has two wins and eight top 10s in 19 starts this season. His other win was in the World Golf Championships-Workday Championship at The Concession 2021. He only has made just one appearance at TPC Southwind, and that was when he finished 20th in the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational 2020.
HIGH-VALUE SLEEPERS
Max Homa (+12500)
Homa is getting his rhythm back. After missing the cut in the US Open and the Travelers Championship, he is now 2 of 2 in his last two starts. So far this season, Homa has managed to snag five top 10s in 25 starts.
Stewart Cink (+12500)
You should really now sleep on Cink, who has two wins this season. This man sure has missed this last couple of starts, but he also has a pair of wins this season. Moreover, he has cracked the top 10 in each of his past two starts at TPC Southwind.
LONG SHOTS
Aaron Rai (+15000)
Rai is 4 of 4 in his last four worldwide starts, including a T19 in The Open Championship 2021.
Martin Laird (+25000)
Laird ended his streak of three missed cuts with a T28 in the John Deere Classic 2021. His best finish in six starts at TPC Southwind was when he placed 24th in the FedEx St. Jude Classic 2012.
Writer’s Prediction
Dustin Johnson wins the 2021 World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational .
