Betting on the Philadelphia 76ers (odds)
Regular Season Record: 48-30
The Sixers have seemingly restored order after suffering three defeats in a row to end the month of March. They are now 2-0 straight up in April, having beaten the Charlotte Hornets at home last Saturday (144-114) and the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road Sunday night (112-108). Joel Embiid mustered a total of 44 points and 17 rebounds against the Cavs, while James Harden scored 231 points with 10 assists. Embiid was simply too much for the Cavs who didn’t have the muscle in the frontcourt to do anything about the Cameroonian. And it appears that he could have another big night this Tuesday versus Indiana, which is dealing with hurt bodies in its own frontcourt. Embiid was absent and Harden was still with the Brooklyn Nets when the Sixers lost on the road to Indiana back in November, 118-113, so it would be a completely different setting than that in this meeting.
The Under is 3-0 in the Sixers’ last three games away from home.
Betting on the Indiana Pacers (odds)
Regular Season Record: 25-54
The Pacers have been out of playoff contention a long time ago. All they want right now is to see their seven-game losing skid end, and they will have to do without a number of key players. Malcolm Brogdon and Chris Duarte are likely going to be held out, while Myles Turner and TJ Warren are done for the season. Center Goga Bitadze also exited Sunday’s game against the Detroit Pistons at home (a 121-117 Pacers loss) with an injury, so he could also be sidelined for the Philly game. However, there’s been a bright spot for Indiana and that’s Tyrese Haliburton, who’s just been pumping one productive performance after another. He had 19 points, 17 assists, and 9 rebounds in the Detroit game and he’s now averaged 19.2 points and 11.2 assists in the last five outings. Oshae Brissett (20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists versus the Pistons) is also a dependable asset in the Pacers’ frontline.
The Over is 3-0 in the Pacers’ last three home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Sixers win, 125-112.
