Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (-2.5)
Regular Season Record: 4-9-1
After back-to-back starts, Jalen Hurts has made it seem that the Eagles should have made the decision to give him the ball earlier. Although the Eagles have gone just 1-1 straight up in those games, it was clear that their offense now has more dynamism in it with Hurts under center instead of Carson Wentz. In the Eagles’ 33-26 road loss to the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday, Hurts passed for 338 passing yards and three touchdowns without an interception, while also rushing for 63 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Over the last three games, the Eagles have put up nearly 40 total yards per contest more than their season average. Wentz’s presence could throw a curveball at Dallas’ leaky defense who saw him make just a single pass attempt in the Eagles’ 23-9 win in Week 8 over the Cowboys. The Eagles’ receiving corps is also loaded with more top talents this time around, with Zach Ertz and Alshon Jeffery set to make their first appearance this season against Dallas.
The under is 3-1 in the Eagles’ last four road games.
Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (+2.5)
Regular Season Record: 5-9
Dallas has won its last two games. After defeating the Cincinnati Bengals on the road in Week 14, 30-7, the Cowboys took down the San Francisco 49ers at home last Sunday, 41-33. The offense has been fantastic of late for the Cowboys, who have averaged 29.3 points over their last three games — seventh-most in the NFL during that same span. One key thing to note about the Cowboys for their upcoming rematch with Philly is that they will have a better starter under center in Andy Dalton. In Week 8, the Cowboys had a trivia answer in Ben DiNucci starting for them, and he did not basically nothing. In Dalton, the Cowboys have a proven quarterback, who’s also been playing of late. Dalton has four touchdowns and zero interceptions in the last two games. On defense, the Cowboys will look to get to Hurts, who’s being protected by an offensive line that has given the most sacks on the season (59).
The Cowboys are 2-1 against the spread in their last three games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Cowboys win, 29-26.
