Betting on the Philadelphia Phillies (19-35)

Moneyline: +115

It’s been a while since the Phillies won consecutive games so they’ll cherish their back-to-back wins over the San Francisco Giants over the weekend. They will look to extend that streak to three games later tonight when they pay Atlanta a visit. The Phillies are 3-0 in their last three games against Atlanta, sweeping the Braves in a three-game homestand back in April.

Nick Pivetta will be Philly’s starter tonight. Pivetta is winless in four starts this season and has a 5.12 ERA. Pivetta, however, had a decent outing in his last start, pitching for 4.2 innings and allowing only an earned run on three hits of an 8-4 loss in Texas on May 18. Pivetta hasn’t lasted past the fifth inning in any of his starts this year. That means a likely early appearance tonight by the Phillies’ bullpen that has a 4.41 ERA on the season.

Betting on the Atlanta Braves (24-30)

Moneyline: -125

Another mound appearance by ageless wonder Bartolo Colon is in the offing tonight in Atlanta. The 44-year-old Colon is 2-6 with a 6.99 ERA in 11 starts.

Colon is coming off a bad day at the office, lasting for only 2.1 innings but not before giving up two earned runs on seven hits in a 9-3 road loss to the LA Angels on May 30.

Atlanta’s offense has to get some early runs with Colon not looking like a reliable pitcher of late. The Braves have scored 18 runs in their last two games, including a 13-8 win in Cincinnati on Sunday, so some hot bats might get some of the job done later tonight.

Ender Inciarte is 11-for-26 in his last six games. Tyler Flowers, who went 1-for-4 and had four runs in Sunday’s win over Cincy, is 7-for-17 in his last five.

Writer’s Prediction

Philadelphia (+115) wins, 6-4.
