The Penguins travel to Philadelphia on Saturday, March 15th before playing host to the Flyers on Sunday, March 16th in two games that the Flyers need much more than their Pennsylvanian rivals.

Odds & Lines

Betting on the Pittsburgh Penguins

[sc:NHL240 ]The Pittsburgh Penguins are running away with the Metropolitan Division. With just 17 games left to play, they are 18 points clear of the 2nd place Rangers. The Pens are 4-1 in their last five games after sweeping a home-and-home with the Washington Capitals.

Sidney Crosby starred with two goals and two assists in the two games against the Caps. The Pens are undefeated in March when Sid the Kid registers at least a point.

Pittsburgh owns the best home ice record in the NHL at 24-4-2, while the over is 7-3 in its last 10 home games overall. The Pens are also 4-1 in their last five visits to Philadelphia. In short, Pittsburgh is primed to have themselves a weekend.

Betting on the Philadelphia Flyers

After winning their first three games in March, the Flyers have dropped their last two games against the Maple Leafs and the Devils. On both occasions, Philadelphia trailed in the first period, came back to tie the game, but ultimately fell in the final period.

The Flyers are a respectable 12th in power play percentage, but are 0/8 over the two games, including going 0-for-6 against the Devils. Leading point-scorer Claude Giroux recorded just one point in those games after grabbing four goals and two assists in two games against the Caps.

Philadelphia is 7-3 in its last 10 road games vs. the Penguins, while the over is 7-1-2 in its last 10 road games overall.

Prediction

Amongst other things, this scheduling anomaly should make for some great afternoon hockey. We like the Pens and Flyers split the home-and-home with both teams winning on opposition ice.
