Betting on the Purdue Boilermakers (21-2)
Purdue has perhaps the most balanced game in the nation. The Boilermakers are 14th overall in scoring with 84.6 points per game They are shooting 50.7 percent from the field. They are knocking down 55.4 percent of their two-point shots and are No. 1 in Division I basketball with a terrifying 43.6 three-point shooting percentage. They are 17th with 10.3 three-pointers per game game. That’s just the offense. On the other end of the court, Purdue is giving up 63.5 points per game. With 7-foot-2 senior big man Isaac Haas (14.6 PPG, 5.33 RPG, 1.3 BPG) anchoring the middle, the Boilermakers are 11th in blocks with 5.8 per contest. They should have little to no problem stopping the pathetic offense of Rutgers this Saturday. The Scarlett Knights are 314th in the nation with 65.5 points, and their defense should have massive headaches trying to stop Purdue’s offense that has seemingly mastered every manner of scoring.
Purdue is 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS in its last five games against Rutgers.
Betting on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (12-11)
Rutgers is going to try their best in slowing down Purdue because does it has no choice. As mentioned, the Scarlet Knights have a crappy offense, one that is worst in the Big Ten in field goal percentage, three-point percentage, free-throw percentage, and points per game. In other words, Rutgers seem to have enrolled players who play with the blindfolds on. If there’s one good thing to say about Rutgers, it’s its defense. Rutgers has the best defense (statistically) in the conference with 63.0 points allowed per game –also 10th in the nation. The Scarlet Knights, however, are not going to win against Purdue by shooting like they have always have this season. Corey Sanders lead Rutgers with 13.6 points per game, while Deshawn Freeman and Geo Baker produces 11.3 and 11.0 points per game, respectively. Apart from these three players, no other Scarlet Knight score more than 9.2 points per contest.
Rutgers is 4-1 ATS in its last five home games as the underdog.
Writer’s Prediction:
Purdue wins, 65-52
