The Gonzaga Bulldogs need just two wins to win the 2021 WCC Tournament. The Saint Mary’s Gaels also are two wins away from becoming the conference’s new champions. However, the Gaels must pull off a giant upset of epic proportions this Monday for them to advance to the WCC Tournament finals and face the winner of the BYU-Pepperdine semifinals clash. The Gaels have the unenviable job of dealing with Gonzaga in the semifinals of the WCC Tournament, but at least they have some momentum going for them after they defeated the Loyola Marymount Lions last Saturday, 52-47. The Gaels have lost twice to Gonzaga back in the regular season, but even though their chances of beating the Bulldogs remain very low for Saint Mary’s, their defense is something for Mark Few’s team to be at least a little bit wary about. Saint Mary’s has the best scoring defense in the WCC, having allowed just 64.4 points in conference games during the regular season. If anything, Saint Mary’s is 1-1 against the spread in Gonzaga games this season. The Gaels covered the 16 points on a 73-59 loss at home to the Bulldogs back on Jan. 16.
The under is 4-0 in Saint Mary’s last four games overall.

Gonzaga will see action for the first time in this year’s WCC Tournament, as the Bulldogs earned byes in the first three rounds of the tourney. The last time the Bulldogs were on the court, they smashed Loyola Marymount in an 86-69 home win to complete an undefeated regular season. No one has made Gonzaga sweat in the WCC, which the Bulldogs have mercilessly dominated from start to finish of the regular season. Over that stretch, the Bulldogs have averaged 92.9 points on a 55.3 percent shooting from the field. They don’t seem to have any respect for Saint Mary’s defense. After all, Gonzaga shot 53.8 percent from the field in the first meeting with Saint Mary’s then went 61.1 percent from the floor in the second showdown – an 87-65 home win for Gonzaga on Feb. 18.
The over is 5-0 in Gonzaga’s last five games.
