Betting on the San Francisco 49ers

Colin Kaepernick completed a 51-yard pass on fourth and 10 to sustain a game-tying drive in the final minutes of regulation, while linebacker Ahmad Brooks strip sacked Drew Brees in overtime to set up the game-winning field goal as the San Francisco 49ers handed New Orleans their first home loss in well over a year. The 49ers are now 4-2 ATS in interdivision games this season.

[sc:NFL240banner ]Despite their come-from-behind win, Kaepernick left much to be desired last Sunday. He completed only 43.8 percent of his pass attempts and was sacked four times. Kap will have another shot at making some big pass plays, this time against a shaky Giants secondary that has allowed 39 passes of over 20 yards, second-most in the NFL. Look for him to target his favored receiver Anquan Boldin, who has caught 12 passes for 188 yards and two scores in his past two games, but also had a bad case of the drops on Sunday.

The 49ers remain a team that is more devastating in their run offense. They will come up against a porous Giants front seven that has allowed over 150 rushing yards in three of their last four games, including 350 against the Seahawks Sunday. Leading the charge will be running back Frank Gore, who ran for 81 yards and a score against New Orleans’ tough rushing defense.

San Francisco can be just as devastating on the other side of the ball, too. They recorded four interceptions in back-to-back games against St. Louis and New Orleans with strong safety Antoine Bethea accounting for two of the interceptions.

The total has gone over in San Francisco’s last three road games.

Betting on the New York Giants

Eli Manning

The New York Giants are now four games deep in a losing streak, and their defense looks seriously broken. The Giants gave up 350 rushing yards to the Seahawks on Sunday in a 38-17 blowout loss, and 510 yards in total. They have allowed an average of 456 total yards per game in their losing streak as they continue to let their opponents make too many big plays due to plenty of missed assignments.

Cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins played injured against the Seahawks, combining for four total tackles. The Giants did get two interceptions from cornerback Zack Bowman and free safety Quintin Demps. Still, a struggling New York defensive unit may be kept off balance Kaepernick’s dual-threat offense.

On the other side of the ball, quarterback Eli Manning had a fine performance, finding rookie receivers Odell Beckham and Preston Parker as the two combined for 14 receptions for 187 yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, the running game has been toothless without No. 1 running back Rashad Jennings for the past four games. The Giants have rushed for less than 100 yards in three of those four games. Possibly getting Jennings back heading into this game may not be too fruitful for their rushing offense as the running back will be welcomed by the 49ers’ tough front seven which has been excellent at stopping the run. The 49ers have limited their opponents to 91.2 rushing yards per game this season.

The Giants are 4-1 ATS in their last four games against San Francisco.

Writer’s Prediction
