The 49ers still look like a legitimate Super Bowl contender even though they won’t be having Jimmy Garoppolo the rest of the way this season. Brock Purdy appears to be capable of handling the starting QB gig, and he showed that when he threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns without an interception in the Niners’ 35-7 destruction of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home last Sunday. The 49ers’ offense remains lethal and that should remain through whether Deebo Samuel (ankle) will be out in Week 15 or not. Their defense is also just as dangerous. The Niners are 6-0 against the spread in their last six games against NFC West division teams.
The Seahawks are struggling for consistency of late, as they have gone just 2-3 straight-up in their last five games. They are coming off a 30-24 home loss to the Carolina Panthers at home in Week 14. It’s not about to get easier for them with the 49ers coming right up. That said, they can draw confidence from the fact that they are still punching above their weight overall this season. Seattle was not supposed to be jockeying for positioning in the playoffs this deep in the regular season, but with the surprising play of Geno Smith, the Seahawks continue to be a playoff contender in the NFC.
Also remember that the Seahawks are 8-2-1 against the spread in their last 11 games as a home team when up against San Francisco.
