Regular Season Record: 2-2
Not even the still-undefeated Philadelphia Eagles were able to generate as many points against the Lions as the Seahawks did over the weekend. Geno Smith went 23/30 for 320 passing yards and two touchdowns without an interception in the win over Detroit. Granted that the Lions just seem to have no interest in defending, the performance Smith just had in that game should only add to his burning confidence right now. You can say the same about Rashaad Penny, who had 151 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries in the Detroit game.
The Seahawks, who are 10th overall with 361.0 total yards per game, are 4-1 against the spread in their last five outings after recording over 150 yards rushing in their previous game.
Betting on the New Orleans Saints (-6.0)
Regular Season Record: 1-3
The quarterback situation over in New Orleans is far from enviable. Jameis Winston is still not 100% while Andy Dalton hasn’t been effective. However, the Saints might have to go back with Winston as soon as Week 5 if he is healthy enough. In any case, Seattle’s defense should provide an opportunity for the Saints to recapture their best form on offense. The Seahawks are allowing 28.8 points per game this season, second-worst in the league. There’s also a chance that star running back Alvin Kamara and wide receiver Michael Thomas will finally be able to suit up after both missed the Vikings game in London.
The home team in this matchup is 5-2 against the spread in the last seven meetings.
Writer’s Prediction
The Saints win, 26-23.
