Serena Williams’ Edge (-1,400):

Serena Williams has continued to look dominant in Wimbledon 2016. She’s had very little trouble in getting past the previous rounds, which included straight-sets victories over the likes of Amra Sadikovic, Annika Beck, Svetlana Kuznetsova and most recently Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the quarterfinals.

The match versus Pavlyuchenkova, in particular, was arguably the most impressive one. The defending champion was flat-out excellent, winning 90 percent of her first serve points, firing in a total of 29 winners and delivering 11 aces. She was also ultra-aggressive from the get-go, which prevented the opposing Russian from garnering any bit of momentum.

Speaking of aggression, that’s precisely what Williams needs to continue utilizing when she takes on Elena Velesnina, whom the World No. 1 has beaten in their four career encounters, in the semifinals.

Elena Vesnina’s Edge (+750):

Elena Vesnina has never beaten Serena Williams, but today could be the day when the Russian finally does so.

Despite a relatively slow start at Wimbledon 2016, Vesnina has managed to find a way to win. Her past two victories opposite Ekaterina Makarova and Dominika Cibulkova were a pair of head-turners.

Against the former, Vesnina displayed her determination as she clawed all the way back after losing the first set to eventually clinch the thrilling 5-7, 6-1, 9-7 triumph. In the match versus Cibulkova, meanwhile, the 29-year-old veteran still had enough fuel left in the tank to pull off the upset over the World No. 19, 6-2, 6-2.

Vesnina’s playing with a lot of confidence and swagger right now. And having that kind of mindset—along with a nothing-to-lose attitude—ought to give her a fighting chance in conquering the defending champion.

Writer’s Prediction: Serena (-1,400) wins it in three sets.
