Betting on Svetlana Kuznetsova (-500)

Power was the difference-maker when Svetlana Kuznetsova beat Caroline Wozniacki 7-5, 6-4 in the first round of the Wimbledon Championships. Kuznetsova hit four aces, and won 76 percent of her first serve points in the match. The former world No. 2 served a love game to win the match. However, Kuznetsova’s return game must also be commended.

The Russian won 45 percent of her receiving points against Wozniacki, and four of 11 break point opportunities. Kuznetsova is dangerous everywhere on the court, which could help against the inexperienced 23-year-old Tara Moore. The 31-year-old is one of the most technically complete players on tour, noted for her speed and strong forehand with plenty of topspin.

Nevertheless, Kuznetsova isn’t perfect. She can be frustrated under pressure, which doesn’t bode well if an inexperienced player like Moore can keep up with her. A former world No. 2 wouldn’t like it if a relative newbie to the WTA takes her shots and throws back.

Kuznetsova has won four of her last six matches.

Betting on Tara Moore (+350)

Tara Moore was surgical is dispatching fellow unseeded player, Alison van Uytvanck 6-3, 6-2 to become the fourth Briton to enter round two of the 2016 Wimbledon Championship. The 23-year-old broke the Belgian’s serve in the eighth game before serving out the opening set in the following game.

Moore showcased her all-court skillset in the victory, winning 63 percent of her first serve points and 43 percent of her receiving points. The Brit showed that she was willing to take chances in order win; she won 10 of 12 net points but made just 22 winners to 20 unforced errors. It’s this kind of fearless play that could give her an edge against an aging Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Moore has won six of her last nine matches on grass.
